You don’t grow older but better.
The celebrations for Emilie Fontane’s 200th birthday have barely ended and we are already preparing to celebrate our own anniversary. After all, the »Fontane Archive as a public authority« was established on December 18, 1935. On this happy occasion, we want to look back—and to look forward. We also invite you to celebrate with us!
After last year’s focus on »Women« met with a particularly positive response, we will be getting to know an almost unknown granddaughter of Fontane this year. With a lecture on Gabriele Reuter, we will also open our new series of events on female authors of Fontane’s period. We will also take part in the International Museum Day, continue our walks in Fontane’s footsteps, and the event on the political Fontane is this time dedicated to his relationship with Judaism. In September, a workshop will look at the position of cultural archives in the digital age, while in the series »New Old Things from Fontane« we will look at our own collection history. Finally, in cooperation with our Friends’ Association and the Theodor Fontane Society, we invite you to our traditional Christmas punch and also to a summer party!
