Linked Open Data: Open Cultural Data for Research
Workshop: 21.5.2021, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Speakers: Jens Bemme (SLUB Dresden) and Christian Erlinger (Büchereien Wien)
Publishing research data sets under open license and keeping them readable or editable with machine-readable interfaces is gaining importance in more and more disciplines and projects. With the concept of Linked Open Data, different data sets can be connected with each other, enabling mutual enrichment with knowledge, but also allowing new ideas and questions to emerge. With Wikidata, an open knowledge graph exists that is an ideal place to collect different datasets, but which can also be used as a central (standards data/research data) hub for any research application or dataset.
In the workshop, in addition to theoretical inputs and presentation of existing projects and datasets in Wikidata, methods for data enrichment and querying will be presented. This Wikiversity page will serve as the workshop's accompanying platform.
