A Breath of Fresh Air for Digital Cultural Heritage

Presentation: 20.5.2021, 6 pm c.t.

Speaker: Philippe Genêt (Project Coordinator Coding da Vinci Office, DNB)

How can cultural institutions make their collections digitally accessible? In what form can cultural heritage also be communicated online in an attractive way? These are questions that are more acute today than ever before due to the corona-related closure of museums, archives, libraries and memorial sites. The cultural hackathon Coding da Vinci provides answers to these questions. Since 2014, it has been bringing together representatives from the worlds of culture and technology to jointly develop applications based on open cultural data and thus shape the cultural space of the future. Philippe Genêt, head of the Coding da Vinci office, will explain in his talk how this hackathon works, what makes it unique and which projects have emerged from it so far, and looks forward to the discussion that will follow.
