Permanent Loans

The holdings of the Theodor Fontane Archive are enriched by smaller and larger permanent loans, some of which have been kept and indexed at the archive for over half a century.

Permanent Loans

University Library of the Humboldt University Berlin

Since the mid-1960s, the Theodor-Fontane-Archiv has held an extensive collection of Fontane manuscripts and letters from the University Library of the Humboldt Universität Berlin, which are indexed under the shelfmarks »U« and »HUB« and are available for use within the scope of our services and in accordance with the loan agreement. The loan also includes the Fontane collection of Paul H. Emden, consisting of printed matter with early reception documents on Fontane. With the goal of long-term preservation, the handwritten objects in the loan were completely digitized.
