Returns after 1945
Since 1945, the history of the Theodor Fontane Archive has also been marked by returns and reacquisitions. From private and public collections, we have repeatedly received manuscripts and collection items that originally came from our old holdings. We are pleased with every page that has returned to the archive’s collections in this way. We continue to approach institutions in which items from our old holdings can still be found today, and we are grateful for any advice of auctioneers who point out consignments to us and have their provenance verified.
